LCC Clears Air on Lekki Reopening, Appeals against Protest

Ahead of the planned February 13 #Occupylekkitollgate protest at the toll plaza, an appeal has been made to the organizers of the planned protest to reconsider the decision.

This formed the main thrust of a media engagement put together by the Lekki Concession Company, the first after the 20 October 2020 Lekki shooting.

Managing Director of LCC, Yomi Omomuwasan, revealed that the LCC is distressed by the violence that resulted from the protests and the resultant disruptions to people and businesses charge the demonstrators to rethink their decision.

The LCC further explains that the company approached the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry for permission to repossess the facilities in a bid to halt further losses as well as evaluate the damages and process insurance claims.

Recall that, following the decision of the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry to hand the toll plaza to the LCC, there are media reports two different groups- #OccupyLekkiTollGaye and #DefendLagos are planning to demonstrate at the already destroyed Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza on Saturday, February 13, 2021.
