Kano assures Almajiri of quality
Kano state government has announced its readiness to provide the best available standard of living to Islamic students in the state commonly called Almajiri.
The commissioner for women affairs and social development disclosed this to Galaxy tv news Kano, after a tour assessment of various Almajiri schools in the state. She said out of the over ten million Almajiris in Kano, a million five hundred thousand of them are in Kano metropolis hence the need to ensure their well being for peaceful coexistence.
Bichi said her ministry is working in conjunction with the office of the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari to bring succor to the seemingly less privilege individuals in the state, adding that several empowerment programmes have been earmarked for the training of some Almajiris in the state.
Some authorities who include the emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi have decried the increasing number of street beggars and Almajiris in the state.
It is yet to be seen if the action of the state government would enhance the lives of the Almajiris whose primary act in trade is street begging.
