Insecurity: Alaafin Calls for Economic Empowerment for Nigerians
Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has called for economic empowerment for Nigerians in order to stem the tide of insecurity in most parts of the country.
The monarch who gave the admonition when the Area Comptroller of Oyo and Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs, Adamu Abdulkadir led senior officers of the command to his palace decried the increasing rate of hunger, poverty and unemployment in the land.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Oba Adeyemi charged government at all levels in the country to rise up to the challenges and empower more Nigerians.
He promised the support for the service while he enjoined officers of the command to discharged their duties with a human face.
On his part, the Area Comptroller, Adamu Abdulkadir thanks the monarch for his concern noting that traditional and community leaders have a great role to play for the security of lives and property at the grassroots as well as for the country at large.
He reiterated the resolve of authorities of Oyo and Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs service yo stamp out smuggling and other criminal acts in the axis calling for the support of the monarch and other stakeholders.
