INEC Charges Csos On Timely Submission Of Election Monitoring Reports

Ahead of the forthcoming off-cycle elections Edo and Ondo States, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has urged Civil Society Organisations (CSO's) to expedite action in the submission of previous election reports for continuous participation in the election observation process.

Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who gave the indication at the second regular quarterly consultative meeting with CSO's, in Abuja on Tuesday, expressed displeasure over some CSO's failure to submit their reports two months after the commission drew their attention to it.

Prof. Yakubu while emphasizing on the need for CSO's to submit their applications for election observation for the forthcoming off-elections in Edo and Ondo States, also solicited their assistance in mobilizing prospective registrants for the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise, and encouraging voters to pick up their PVC's before the stipulated deadline.

Responding on behalf of Civil Society Organizations, the President of International Institute of Leadership and Governance, Amb. Paddy Njoku, commended INEC for its continuous engagement with CSOs, assuring that CSO's will expedite action in meeting INEC demands for an improved electoral process.
