Group Raises Alarm Over Power Tussle in ADC

A Political Advocacy Group, the Benue Concerned Democrats (BCD), has raised alarm over what it described as a covert attempt by former Senate President, David Mark, to hijack the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under the guise of a Coalition for 2027.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Convener of the group, Arc Idoha Audu Anuga accused Mark of seeking a political comeback through the ADC, warning that the move represents a tragic throwback to an era of alleged authoritarianism and political manipulation.

According to the statement made available to Journalists, David Mark’s anti-democratic credentials are well documented referencing the Mark’s alleged support for the controversial Association for Better Nigeria (ABN) during the annulled June 12, 1993 elections.

The group also criticized Mark’s senatorial legacy, alleging that his 16-year tenure brought little benefit to his Benue South constituency.

The BCD called on the ADC to distance itself from what it termed an expired political class, warning that Mark’s involvement in the so-called coalition could undermine the party’s credibility.

Reaffirming its opposition, the group alleged that both Mark’s military and political careers were marred by dictatorial tendencies, suppression of dissent, and habitual abuse of office.
