FCT Police Command Arrests Members of Once Chance Gang

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested six members of a notorious one-chance armed robbery gang, neutralised one suspect during a gun battle, rescued a victim, and recovered the gang’s operational vehicle.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said the breakthrough came on August 6, 2025, at about 8:30 a.m., when officers on patrol spotted a woman, later identified as Angel Patrick, being pushed out of a moving vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway.

While one team rushed the injured victim to Zankwochi Hospital, Mabushi, undercover operatives pursued the fleeing suspects to the Aso area of Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

The police disclosed that after a high-speed chase and a fierce gun duel, five suspects, Jude Simon of Mararaba, Emmanuel Akor, Daniel Benson, Uche Thomas, and Tope Ola, all from Mpape were arrested.

Their dark grey Toyota Corolla was recovered while one suspect was shot during the exchange and later confirmed dead at Asokoro General Hospital.

Investigation revealed that another gang member, John Simon, had been arrested in December 2024 and remanded in Kuje prison for the same offence.

Recovered items include six ATM cards believed to belong to previous victims, a jackknife, ₦115,000 cash, and other stolen property. The suspects confessed to years of “one-chance” operations.

FCT Commissioner of Police commended the officers’ professionalism and urged residents to use only approved motor parks.
