Family of freed abducted medical students in Benue have expressed appreciation to the federal government, National security adviser (NSA), the Army, police, DSS and other security agencies for coming to the rescue of twenty medical and dental students after nine days in captivity. The medical students including their House officer from both University of Jos and University of Maiduguri were kidnapped last week Thursday in Otukpo axis of Benue state on their way to Enugu to attend Federation of Catholic Medical and Students Annual Convention.

Father of one of the freed kidnapped students, Mr Donald Kwaghaondo Fagar and his wife Cecilia, while thanking God for the rescue mission of the kidnapped students, called on the federal government to assist the victims with psychosocial support to enable them recover from the traumatic experience and return their schools. Mr. FAGAR, expressing his joy and feelings says this kidnapping is the second experience his son, Kingsley Kwaghaondona, a 500 level medical students of Unions has seen in the last two years, recounting that in 2022 same August 15th, his son almost lost his life when he was attacked and wounded in Jos by hoodlums during the religious crisis.

According to him, "I am grateful today I thank everyone the NSA, the Police IG, the Army and all other security operatives for releasing all the victims and I pray God to continue to protect them. While Mrs Cecilia FAGAR, mother of Kinsley Kwaghaondona, who corroborated the husband statement, appealed to the federal government and the security agencies to extend same measures if not more to rescue other kidnapped victims in captivity, stating that he can now heave a sigh of relief as Nigeria has happened to to for the first time.

She said since the news of the release, I have been receiving phone calls, friends, family members, neighbors congratulating us as we look forward to welcoming our son home anytime soon. Madam Cecilia, said this morning , my son called me that they were taking them to ABUJA by men in military uniform, but complained that his two legs were swollen from trekking from one location to the other by the kidnappers all through the bush with no where to sleep as the rains were falling on us anytime it rains.

Meanwhile, the command public relations officer. SP Catherine Anene, in a phone call is yet to give details if any kidnappers was arrested and whether ransom was paid, she promised to revert to the press as soon as she confirms.
