DEPOWA President Empowers Women At AFCSC

The Armed Forces Command and Staff College Officers' Wives Association celebrated International Women's Day with an empowerment programme aimed at promoting unity and collaboration among women in the military community. The event was held at the Farouk Yahaya Hall, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, AFCSC, Jaji, Kaduna State.

The President of the Defence and Police Officers' Wives Association, DEPOWA, Mernan Femi Oluyede, represented at the event by Mekafie Phillips, highlighted the importance of collaboration among women associations in the military community.

The event provided a platform for women to network and share experiences, with the aim of strengthening their roles as mothers, leaders, and pillars of support to serving personnel.

The programme, themed "Give to Gain," featured lectures and interactive sessions focused on encouraging women to support one another and work together towards collective growth.

The Coordinator of Armed Forces Command and Staff College Officers' Wives Association, Ekene Shogbanmu, highlighted the importance of women investing in each other to build stronger families and communities.

The event featured two keynote speakers, Dr Aminat Abdullahi, and Mrs. Abisat Abdullahi, who spoke on topics relating to collaborative empowerment and entrepreneurship for military wives.

Dr Aminat Abdullahi emphasized the need for women to move beyond competition and build supportive networks, while Mrs. Abisat Abdullahi encouraged women to develop entrepreneurial skills and pursue financial independence.
