Benue INEC Fosters Relations With Political Parties On Electoral Laws
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Benue State, has called for a more strengthened collaboration with political parties in the build up to the 2027 general elections.
The Commission, at an interactive engagement between its Election and Party Monitoring Department and chairmen of political parties and their organizing secretaries, at the State Secretariate, Makurdi, expressed the importance of fostering good relations between stakeholders.
The Public Affairs Officer of the Commission, Mrs. Peace Ogoyi, said the engagement formed part of INEC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with political parties and ensure compliance with the Electoral Act 2022.
She said that the objective of the meeting was to present a Compliance and Engagement framework to political parties and to guide them in conducting their activities in line with legal requirements and best democratic practices.
She added that the engagement was also to make clarification, noting that the Election and Party Monitoring Department will be sustained. She described the engagement as vital in ensuring credible and transparent electoral processes in the State.
