Amotekun: Makinde Vows to Deal with Erring Corp Members
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on Friday, declared that his government is already investigating the alleged highhandedness of the Amotekun corps, noting that the issues will be addressed squarely in the interest of the security and wellbeing of residents of the state.
The Governor reassured the residents of the state that the administration is doing everything it could to address security challenges in the state.
Makinde, while speaking on the recent occurrence in Tapa, Ibarapa North Local Government Area in a statement by his press secretary Taiwo Adisa, said the matter will be looked into.
The incident involved some youths and corps of the Oyo Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun.
He added that Amotekun was introduced to check insecurity in the state, noting that the government will not sit back and watch any harassment or intimidation of any member of the public or any security agent.
According to him, the welfare and security of the good people of Oyo State remain the top priority of his administration adding that he will not sit back and watch any harassment or intimidation of members of the public or security officers.
He urged the good people of Oyo State to please remain calm and allow members of the corps to perform their legally authorized duties for the people's well-being as he further promised that any corps members that abuse his office will be dealt with accordingly.
