ACF Scolds Politicians For Prioritizing 2027 Elections Over Worsening Insecurity, Poverty

Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, has scolded political actors for prioritising permutations for the 2027 general elections over the worsening insecurity, poverty afflicting Northern Nigeria.

Mamman Osuman, at the 79th National Executive Committee meeting of the Forum at the ACF Secretariat in Kaduna, decried that the North is experiencing one of the most difficult periods in its history, characterized by terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, economic hardship, and mass displacement.

He lamented that despite the deepening crisis, some groups are focused on political realignments ahead of 2027, than addressing urgent challenges, which include out-of-school children, hunger, and protection of lives and property.

The ACF chairman noted that while some elected and appointed officials have supported the Forum, many leaders remain disconnected from its aspirations and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the region.

Osuman urged NEC members to approach their deliberations with sincerity and purpose. He said the downtrodden must remain at the centre of the Forum’s engagements.
