The FBI have arrested a 45-year-old man, Andrew Emerald, resident of Massachusetts, United States, U.S., over alleged threaten to assassinate the U.S. President Donald Trump.

Emerald expressed his assassination threat in Facebook posts. He was said to have written eight assassination threat messages on Facebook between May and July 2025. One of the posts was cited to read: "Either Trump is dead and in the ground by 2026 or I am hunting him down and putting him there."

Emerald, at the initial stage, resisted arrest by FBI agents; declined to surrender, displayed "a long metal sword", and told the FBI agents "they would have to shoot him".

A crisis negotiator and local police officer was said to have intervened and persuaded Emerald to surrder, which he did peacefully.
