Nigeria makes progress in latest Fifa rankings
Ahead of the two crucial World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon in September, the Super Eagles are expected to make slight progress in the latest Fifa rankings that will be released by football's governing body Fifa on Thursday, August 10.
Nigeria climbed one place up from 39th to 38th in the world, level on 716 points with 2004 European champs Greece.
The Super Eagles are sixth in the continental rankings, and have 21 points less than their next opponents in a competitive match Cameroon. Egypt retained their number one spot in Africa, followed by Congo DR, Senegal, Tunisia and Cameroon. South Americans Brazil will displace Germany as the best ranked nation; Argentina, Switzerland and Poland complete the top five.
