Troops Rescue 9, Recover 56 Cattle from Bandits in Katsina

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in separate intelligence-driven operations, rescued 9 kidnapped victims, recovered 56 rustled livestock, and arrested a suspected terrorist across different locations in the theatre in Katsina State.

In the first operation, Sector 2 troops on a fighting patrol rescued nine kidnapped victims in Faskari Local Government Area. The victims include three women, four men, and two children.

In a second operation, troops acted on credible intelligence and responded to an attempted livestock rustling in Bakori Local Government Area. On sighting the troops, the terrorists opened fire but were overpowered by superior firepower and fled into the surrounding bush. They abandoned 56 rustled animals in the process — four cattle and 52 sheep. The recovered livestock are in military custody pending handover to local authorities.

Troops also arrested a suspected terrorist during routine operations in Danmusa Local Government Area. Items recovered from the suspect during preliminary exploitation are believed to have links to terrorist activities. The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation.
