Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, obstructed ISWAP multiple attacks in Borno State, forcing the terrorists to retreat.

Borno State was under pressure as ISWAP terrorists launched multiple coordinated infiltration attempts. Between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30a.m. on Friday, fighters tried to push into key entry points around Maiduguri — specifically Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis — hoping to slip into the metropolis under cover of darkness.

They ran straight into troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI. Because early warning systems were already in place, soldiers detected the advancing groups before they could get close. From several directions at once, the troops opened fire with accurate, concentrated firepower, cutting off every route the insurgents tried to use.

The pressure didn’t stop there. In separate incidence, the same night, troops also blocked attempts at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai. During the chase at Miringa, an MRAP vehicle hit an Improvised Explosive Device. Despite the blast, no soldiers were hurt, and the unit kept pushing forward. The quick response left the attackers with no room to regroup.

Overwhelmed by the speed and coordination of the military response, the terrorists abandoned their mission. Across all axes they broke and retreated in disarray. Presently, Operation HADIN KAI troops are sweeping the area — conducting clearance and exploitation operations to hunt down fleeing fighters, hold the ground they’ve retaken, and make sure nearby communities stay safe.

Command said the operation will continue with aggressive offensive action to deny terrorists freedom of movement and protect lives and property across the North East. The public is also being urged to stay alert and pass on any timely, credible information to security agencies to support the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
