Tinubu Swears in Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance.

Oyedele was administered Oath of Office by President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Monday, formally ushering in Oyedele into the Federal Executive Council. He is expected to support the Tinubu administration on fiscal management and ongoing economic reforms.

The swearing in ceremony afforded the President an opportunity to praise Oyedele to high heavens, saying he effectively rewrote the tax history of Nigeria, pruning out the obsolete and archaic aspects.

According to Tinubu, Oyedele's expertise in tax administration earned him a place in the Federal Executive Council.

Oyedele’s appointment followed a recent cabinet adjustment that saw the former Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, her third ministerial portfolio since the inauguration of the Tinubu administration.

Oyedele's swearing in took place after his screening  and confirmation by the senate.

Prior to his nomination, Oyedele a tax expert, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, a body established by President Tinubu to review and overhaul Nigeria’s tax administration and fiscal policy framework.

Under his leadership, the committee initiated reform proposals aimed at simplifying the tax system, improving compliance, broadening the tax base, and strengthening government revenue generation.

Oyedele said he is always delighted to be of service to his country, adding that he ensures he gives his best at any given time.
