Tinubu Rejects Failure, Hits Back At Obi On Resignation
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rejected the failure of his leadership, as identified by Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC; the president also hits back at Obi on call for his resignation.
The President dismissed Obi’s exposition and call for resignation as “childish, hollow and an unworthy distraction.”
Peter Obi, acknowledging the resignation of Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain on Monday, in admittance of the loss of confidence in his leadership of the Labour Party, LP, from party members, differentiated the political culture of advanced countries from countries in Africa, and back home in Nigeria.
Obi, after enumerating the various failures of Tinubu, including unfulfilled promises, resolved to join other Nigerians in calling for the resignation of Tinubu, citing the president's confrontational precedence in demanding the resignation of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Tinubu expressed retrogressive view that Obi’s statement did not relate to the economic reality of the last three years of his administration. The president referred to economic data to argue that his performance compares favorably, than Obi’s record when he was Governor of Anambra State.
The president was of the view that Obi’s statement lacked credibility; and had political motive.
