Tinubu, Derby Itno Agree To Join Forces Against Insecurity
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno of the Republic of Chad at a closed-door meeting at the State House, Abuja, resolved to join forces in the fight against insecurity in the sub-region.
Curiously, both Presidents are leading two countries on two different sub-regions in the African continent - Nigeria on the West Africa sub-region, and Chad on the Central Africa sub-region, but share borders.
President Tinubu hosted President Mahamat Idriss Derby Itno of Chad at the State House, Abuja, on a courtesy visit; where they resolved to join forces to confront and eliminate insecurity in the Sahel region.
President Tinubu, briefing State House Correspondents after the closed-door meeting, said they met to fine tune the operations of the multinational Joint taskforce, to make them more effective, to be able to confront activities of terrorists within the two borders.
The President noted series of attacks at the borders and within the subregion, saying the collaboration became expedient to restore peace and encourage trans border trade between the two countries.
The President recalled the bilateral relations betweeen the two Neighbours, saying necessary action would be taken to restore peace and sustain international trade between the two countries.
