Supreme Court Adjourns Imo, Zamfara Matters Till 3rd, 17th March Respectively

The Supreme Court Monday adjourned till Tuesday 3rd March for hearing on the application by the PDP seeking the review of the judgment nullifying the 9th March electoral victory of Emeka Ihedioha.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the adjournment of hearing on the keenly followed matter was at the instance of Kanu Agabi, counsel to the applicant, on grounds that he was served the court processes only on Monday morning, and it was too late to respond.

The seven-member apex court panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Mohamed, therefore, conceded that for the matter to go ahead, all the court processes must have been served on all parties.

It will be recalled that hearing on the application was adjourned on the 18th of February under similar circumstances.

Meanwhile, hearing on the application by the Abdulaziz Yari-led APC faction in Zamfara State has been adjourned till 17th March owing to the failure of the applicants to file court processes and hearing notices on the 141st to the 178th respondents in the matter.

This was the same issue that prompted the adjournment of hearing on the matter on the last adjourned date, 18th February at the Apex Court.

The former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, had filed an application for the review of a May 24, 2019 judgment which nullified the victory of all of the party’s candidates at the 2019 general elections held in the State.
