Plateau: Group Urge INEC To Review Voters Registration At Polling Units
A socio-political group, Plateau Youth Vanguard, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to re-conduct voters' registration in 527 Polling Units of Plateau State.
The Plateau Youth Vanguard made the appeal in a press release saying the voters registration was incomplete and did not hold in 527 Polling Units in Plateau State.
According to the group, INEC omitted the polling unit of Governor Jang from the exercise.
The Chairman of the group, Joel Jonathan, also appealed to INEC for an extension of the exercise.
The group claimed that the six days earlier fixed will not be enough for people in the affected 527 polling units to register."No single person was captured during the 2011 voters' registration in the governor's Polling Unit, Ladura II in Du, Jos South Local Government Area of the State."
Reacting to the allegations, the Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity of INEC in Plateau State, Osaretin Imahiyereobo, asked residents to be patient, saying the the commission will conduct fresh registration in the affected areas.
Mr. Imahiyereobo said that "those affected will be duly briefed by the Electoral Officers before the commencement of the exercise slated for between 12 and 17 November".
