PDP shuns reconciliation with Sheriff

The south west leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have vowed not to honour any further meeting geared towards reconciling with the Aimodu Sheriff faction of the party.


Rising from its meeting in Ado Ekiti, the PDP leaders in the southwest zone maintained its resolve and support with the Ahmed Makarfi led faction of the party which was recently declared illegal in a judgement by an Appeal Court.

The meeting which came on the heel of a recent reconciliation meeting which turned awry as the national chairman of the party, Alimodu Sheriff was reported to have walked out of the meeting that lasted for over three hours behind closed doors.

The southwest caucus of the party also commended former President Goodluck Jonathan for his initiative at reconciling all warring factions within the party, urging him to continue to take actions that will promote cohesion in the party.

A six-point communique issued at the end of the meeting which was read by the national vice chairman, southwest region of the party, Eddie olafeso highlighted other resolutions of the party leaders in the zone.

The Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose who hosted the meeting, also spoke on what he described as the continued detention and intimidation of members of the party by the APC led federal government.
