Pandemonium at Ojoo, Ibadan, Shops Go Up in Flames
There is pandemonium at Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State. Shops have been set ablaze and gone up in flames. Losses are being encountered, and several people are on standby monitoring the inferno.
Two people are feared dead in the Ojoo pandemonium, as Yoruba indigenes clash with resident Hausa community over failed POS transaction.
Security operatives have drafted to the scene to maintain law and order. The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Adeleke Adebayo Lawal, has visited the scene of the turmoil and appealed to the people to calm down and allow security operatives to do their jobs, promising that justice will be served.
Security operatives of the Oyo State Joint Security Outfit, Operation Burst, were reportedly deployed to the scene.
The pandemonium was attributed alleged killing of a Yoruba tricycle mechanic who was purportedly stabbed to death overnight in Ojo0, Ibadan, by persons alleged to be Hausa scrap scavengers.
There are indications that youths may have gone on rampage but a combined team of Army and Police were there to bring the situation under control.
