Melaye urges INEC to obey court orders
While the recall process of Senator Dino Melaye lingers, the embattled senator representing the Kogi West senatorial district has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obey court orders.
Dino Melaye, said his recall process being undertaken by INEC could be rendered null and void if the commission does not adhere to a certain order by the Federal High Court.
Melaye, who addressed Senate press corp, on the alleged petition submitted to INEC for his recall and 90 days period provided by for by the constitution which INEC must conduct the said referendum, says any action taken by INEC on his planned recall without first complying with Justice Nnamdi Dimgba’s order would be in total disobedience of the court order.
The Court had on Friday, August 11, ordered the commission to continue with the suspended recall process.
It will be recalled that last Monday, INEC released the amended timetable and schedule of activities for the senator’s planned recall.
