INEC Schedules Bye-Elections In Six States June 20

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has scheduled to hold bye-elections in six states on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The bye-elections will hold in Kebbi, Kano, Ondo, Rivers, Nasarawa, and Enugu states to fill vacant seats in the National Assembly and a state assembly.

The election include four senatorial districts, one House of Representatives federal constituency, and a State House of Assembly.

The bye-election will, Ondo State, fill the vacant seat left by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim after his appointment as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.


The death of Senator Barinada Mpigi opened a vacancy in Rivers State, death of Senator Godiya Akwashika created vacancy in Nasarawa State, the death of Senator Okey Ezea also created vacancy in Enugu State.

House of Representatives election will hold in Kano State, and House of Assembly election in Kebbi State.
