INEC meets stakeholders, promises credible poll
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has decried the low collection of permanent voter cards by eligible voters from the continuous voters' registration exercise in Ekiti state.
This is just as stakeholders in the electoral process towards the next governorship election in Ekiti state coming up on the 14th of July, called on INEC and security agents to be unbiased for a credible poll.
These were the high points of the continuous voters' registration stakeholders meeting held in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital in preparedness of the final registration of eligible voters due to commence on Wednesday, 11th to Monday, 16th April, 2018.
Leading the discourse, the INEC national commissioner supervising Ekiti, Osun and Oyo states, Adedeji Soyeibi with the Ekiti state resident electoral commissioner, Abdulganiyu Raji told the stakeholders that the electoral body is unimpressed with the low turnout in the collection of the permanent voters' cards,
On the side of the stakeholders which include: representatives of political parties, civil society organisations, traditional institutions, religious groups among others; they were unanimous in promising their cooperation with the electoral body to have an international acceptable governorship election in the state.
With this INEC and stakeholders meeting for the final stage of the continuous voters' registration, the next stage is for political parties to have their primaries and produce candidates for the 14th of July gubernatorial poll.
