Former Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose, Emerges PDP Candidate For Ekiti Gubernatorial Election
The former Governor Ayo Fayose has emerged winner of the Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] primary held in Ado Ekiti.The development followed the declaration by the former Governor Peter Odili-led five-man panel sent by the National Executive committee of the party to conduct the primary. 15 aspirants of the party who boycotted the primary had stormed the venue of the exercise to register their protest but were resisted by armed
police that fired teargas outside the premises. Out of the 544 delegates accredited for the exercise, 97 were absent, 4 votes were voided while 477 ballot paper were used.Speaking, the chairman of the Special State Congress Committee, Peter Odili expressed satisfaction with the way the delegates had conducted themselves before and during the primary.Commenting on the exercise, former governor Fayose said the victory is to the people of the state, his party and members of his constituency.
Earlier, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Halilu Pai and the State Police Commissioner, Felix Uyanna who were there to perform their civic responsibilities had these to say.
Meanwhile, the other 15 aspirants are said to have gone to Abuja to complain to the party national executive.
