First Lady, Remi Tinubu, Urges Lawmakers To Work With Fear Of God
First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on members of the National Assembly to approach lawmaking with the fear of God, reminding them that leadership is a sacred trust.
She said every decision taken on the floor of the legislature carries moral and spiritual consequences, urging lawmakers to ensure their actions reflect justice, compassion and integrity.
The First Lady gave the charge at the dedication and commissioning of the National Assembly Chapel in Abuja, built by the National Assembly Christian Legislators Fellowship within the federal legislature complex.
She stressed that beyond their constitutional responsibility to legislate for over 200 million Nigerians, lawmakers remain accountable to God for every law they enact.
Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said the commissioning marks a spiritual milestone for Nigeria’s democracy.
Akpabio stated that governance must be guided by conscience and divine wisdom, adding that while men legislate for a season, God legislates for eternity.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, said the Chapel symbolises lawmakers’ accountability to God.
