Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, at the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, won the party's ticket for the 2027 governorship election. He noted that the primary process in Benue State was peaceful and transparent.

Governor Alia, at the Mbadede Council Ward polling unit in Vandeikya Local Government Area, mobilized support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is already the APC consensus presidential candidate.
According to Alia, his victory "is a clear demonstration of support for President Bola Tinubu in his administration and their desire for continuity beyond 2027."

Alia who said the outcome of recent APC primary elections across the state showed that the people were determined to support leaders who had delivered on their mandates, called on the party faithful to turnout on Saturday, May 23, 2026, to vote for President Bola Tinubu at the APC presidential primaries.

The Governor called on aggrieved aspirants, who lost during the National Assembly and State Assembly primaries, to accept the outcome in good faith and continue working for the success of the APC.
