Amidst renewed agitation by residents of Ekiti south senatorial district to produce the next Governor of the state, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that it is planning to zone its Ekiti State governorship ticket.

Proponents of the zoning arrangements hinged their argument on the fact that Ekiti South senatorial district remains the only district not to have produced a governor in the state since creation.

The party, which reacted through its Ekiti State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun said no to zoning of the governorship ticket expected to be contested by about forty governorship aspirants in April 2018.

Olatunbosun voiced the commitment of the party to provide equal opportunity for all aspirants to compete freely and democratically in the primaries.

Olatunbosun urged gubernatorial aspirants to strive for the votes of party delegates in the primaries. He also said the constitution of the party and the federal republic of Nigeria are against zoning.
