Police Debunk Report Of Planned Kidnapping, Attack On UNN
The Police have allayed fear of attack and kidnapping precipitated by unverified report at University of Nigeria Campus, NsukKa, Enugu State.
The Police, THUS, Debunked report of planned kidnapping and attack on the campus of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Enugu State Command, Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement, described the report as false, misleading and deliberately intended to instigate fear and panic within the University community and surrounding areas.
According to the police, intelligence and threat assessments conducted by the Command have revealed no credible information or trend suggesting any planned attack or security to the university community.
The police stressed that the Force is collaborating with the University authorities and other security agencies, while adequate measures are put in place within and around the institution to ensure safety of lives and property.
The police attributed the perpetrators of the false report to a criminal syndicate operating under the guise of ANONYMOUS and other social media aliases.
The Enugu State Police Commissioner, CP Mamman Giwa, urged members of the public to disregard the false report and desist from sharing unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic as such may attract legal sanctions.
