Police Arrest Driver, Brother Over Killing Of Bishop In Delta

The Police have arrested the personal driver of the murdered Bishop Clarence Chinedu Okonkwo, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Secretary, including the brother, over the gruesome killing of the Bishop.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Delta State Command, Edafe Bright, in a statement, indicated that the suspect, identified as Nicholas Obiagwu, killed the Bishop by hitting him with a pestle on the head; then, took his Toyota SUV to Onitsha, Anambra State, where he was making arrangements to sell vehicle at N10 million but was arrested.

According to the PPRO, the collaboration between the Delta Police Command and the Anambra counterpart, led to the arrest of the suspect and his brother, who thought they could evade arrest after killing the Bishop, who had been nice to him since employing him as his personal driver.

The suspect and his brother have since confessed to the crime and are cooling their heels at the Headquarters of the Anambra State Police Command, awaiting their transfer to Delta State where the crime was committed for further prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the joint intelligence operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. The CP said it is no longer business as usual for transborder criminals between the Delta and Anambra borders. He commiserated with the family of the late Bishop.
