Umahi Lobbies Tinubu For Additional Road Projects

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, was at the State House, Abuja, to update President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the progress and challenges of ongoing roads projects. There were indications that the Minister may have lobbied the president for additional road projects, which were approved accordingly.

Besides approval for additional road projects, the President ordered immediate reconstruction of several federal roads in Niger State.

The roads include, Mokwa–Bida Road of 120kms, the 63km Mokwa–Makeri Road and the Bida–Lanbata Road of 123.5kms

The three projects totaling 306.5 kilometres will be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media, Francis Nwaeze, indicated that President Tinubu also approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to connect the East–West Road.

The project, the statement indicated, will be executed on a dual carriageway capacity, constructed with concrete pavement, and equipped with solar-powered street lighting, and will be delivered through a competitive bidding process.

The statement further conveyed the appreciation of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who acknowledged efforts by the President in rebuilding those road projects that fall within critical national economic corridors, which will significantly enhance connectivity, trade, and development.
