Reps Anticorruption Committee End Its 3 Day Transparency Conference

The House of Representatives committee on anti-corruption has concluded a three-day national conference focused on transparency in government operations. In a communique read by the secretary of the communique drafting committee Akinrosotu Olasimbo , the conference called on the national assembly to urgently pass a whistleblower and witness protection law to encourage the reporting of corruption and safeguard those who expose corrupt practices.
The chairman of the communique drafting committee, Prof. Anselem Onyiminyi, emphasized the importance of internal control mechanisms as crucial tools for reducing unethical practices in the public service.
The program’s lead consultant, Ambassador Olabode Oluwashola, urged the national assembly to adopt and legislate the conference policy recommendations, stressing that such laws would strengthen anti-corruption efforts and promote greater transparency across ministries, departments, and agencies.
Participants at the event, Akinkugbe Helen and Hawa Madu, stated that the conference would help improve the nation’s image and enhance the effective dissemination of information.
