Prison Reforms: Controller General of Correctional Service Solicits Media support

The Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, has solicited the support of the Media towards repositioning the Correctional Service across the Country. Nwakuche made the appeal at the opening session of a three day workshop for Command Public Relations Officers, where Galaxy TV Correspondent Kunle Ojo and other selected Journalists in Abuja were honoured for accurate reportage of the Service.


The Selected Journalists were recognized for their accurate reportage and contributions to the activities of the Nigerian Correctional Service in the country. The Controller General of the Service, Ndidi Nwakuche, commended Journalists to enhancing the image of the service.

He disclosed Public relations remains a central pillar in the transformation journey of the Nigerian Correctional Service adding that, the Service is experiencing a more positive and balanced representation in the media, as the public understanding of its mandate continues to deepen. He Commended the Public Relations Unit of the Correctional Service for the relentless service and dedication just as he encouraged them to use the opportunity provided by the workshop to sharpen their skills.

In her Presentation, the President, Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA) Uju Agomoh, emphasized the need to increase the frequency of media reportage on correctional issues as well as increase the quality of such reportage.Highpoint of the event was the presentation not awards of recognition to the selected Journalists including Kunle Ojo of the Galaxy TV.
