Police deploy special forces to tackle herdsmen
The Delta state police command said it has deployed one hundred and thirty one special forces made up of intelligence and combat policemen, to help check the menace of herdsmen in Abraka, Osissa and other flash points in the state.
The special forces who had earlier been given branded vehicles at the government house in Asaba where the governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa inspected them, will go a long way in reducing crime in the state.
Addressing newsmen at the state police headquarters while also parading suspects involved in kidnapping, car snatching and dealers of human parts, the Delta police commissioner, Zanna Ibrahim stressed that the force will be dedicated and committed to tackling herdsmen menace in the state.
Items paraded alongside the suspects were recovered cars, arms and suspected human parts in sacks, while the biggest breakthrough was the parade of an Italian Nigerian kidnap suspect believed to be killer of the Ughelli Assistant police commissioner.
