Obi Urges FG to Prioritize Critical Sectors
The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party(LP), in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, has urged the Federal Government to prioritize critical areas, such as Education and Health in view of the economic realities.
Obi said this of Monday in Ibadan while speaking with newsmen shortly after paying a condolence visit to Gov. Seyi Makinde in his office, over the Jan.16 Bodija explosion.
The visitor advised governments to cut the cost of governance especially at the federal level, saying it is not acceptable the way things are going.
He charged government to do what would pull Nigerians out of poverty, emphasized that "elections are over and that governance is the key thing".
Obi who noted that everyone is involved in the growth and development of Nigeria, charged Nigerians to contribute their quota toward turning around the fortune of the nation on the path to socio-economic turnaround and prosperity.
The LP Presidential candidate while commiserating with Makinde and the people of Oyo State over what he described as unfortunate incident, commended the state government for responding promptly when the explosion occurred.
Makinde who appreciated Obi for the visit, but wonder why his party's Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has not call to commiserate with the state over the unfortunate incidence.
He however stress that investigation is still ongoing to unravel the perpetrators of the explosion.
