NUP emphasizes welfare of retired workers, vows to sanction dissident branches
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners has threatened to sanction any of its branches that operate contrary to the dictate of the law and directive from the National Headquarters of the Union.
This follows the Judgement of the Industrial Court which restore normalcy into the troubled Federal Civil Service.
The National President of NUP, Comrade Godwin Abumisi, who handed down the warning while speaking with Journalists in Abuja on the recent judgement of the Industrial Court charged branches Chairmen to respect labour laws and constitution of the Union.
Galaxy Tv reports that Comrade Abumisi while inaugurating members of the Caretaker committee for the Federal Civil Service, emphasized the need for strict compliance with the constitution and recognize the crucial roles of the National headquarters of the Union.

He restated the determination of the National leaders of NUP to sanction any dissident members of the Union no matter how highly placed noting that the preoccupation of the leadership is the welfare and well-being of all retired workers.
On his part, the Chairman of the Caretaker committee, Comrade Fred Eguoba, assured the National leaders of the Union that members of the committee would work in line with fairness to all members and the provision of the law.
