Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Professor Ibrahim Garba has confirmed that senator representing Kogi East, Dino Melaye graduated from the University.

Correspondent Onuora Aninwobodo reports that ABU Vice Chancellor, Professor Garba said that “From records, Mr. Melaye ‘formerly known as Daniel Jonah Melaye’ graduated from ABU with Third Class BA Geography in 2000.”

The marathon hearing exercise started some minutes after 1 PM, with appearance of Senator Dino Melaye before the committee.Senator Melaye still insisted that he graduate from ABU and tendered some documents to substantiate his claims.

After Senator Melaye's appearance, the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garba was administered an oath and testified that Senator Melaye ‘formerly known as Daniel Jonah Melaye’ graduated from ABU with Third Class BA Geography in 2000.”

It was then the time for Former Senate leader, Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, who moved the motion urging Senate to investigate the report over certificate scandal against Senator Dino Melaye.

With today’s confirmation by ABU Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Garba some observers are of the view that Senator Melaye is a graduate, but some are still questioning the disparity that existed in his statement of result and his NYSC discharge certificate.
