LG Elections: LASG extends restriction movement

The Lagos state government through the office of Commissioner for Information and Strategy has announced an extension on the restriction on vehicular movement around the state for the local government elections.


 

The restriction will now be enforced between 7 am and 3 pm on Saturday, July 22, to allow for a smooth conduct of the local government elections and unhindered participation.

This was made available in a statement was issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy of Lagos state, Steve Ayorinde, whereby the commissioner, also reiterated the call for peaceful and orderly conduct by the voters.

Ayorinde promised that the state government and security agencies will ensure a free and fair election coupled with the safety of electoral officials and voters.

He said: "The police and other security agencies have been maintaining law and order since the commencement of campaign by political parties. They are poised to ensure that the voting on Saturday is conducted smoothly without public disturbance."

He added that all political parties, candidates and their supporters as well as the general public are assured of safety throughout the period of voting and collation.

In the same vein, the Commissioner also thanked residents of Lagos for always being peace-loving, as he urges them to perform their civic obligation by trooping out with their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to show their commitment to participatory democracy and the importance of development at the local government level.
