Gunmen abduct family of three, two others in Abuja
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a man, his wife, son, and two others in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The gunmen struck at the Chikakore area of Kubwa at about 12:00 am on Monday morning.
GALAXY TVt learnt that the kidnappers, numbering 30 and armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the residence of one Adefija Michael Akinropo in the community, and abducted him alongside his wife, son and elder brother.
It was gathered that the gunmen also moved to another building housing a poultry farm and kidnapped a man and injured his wife.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Josephine Adeh, said the Command has commenced investigation into the case.
According to a statement signed by the Command's Pro, the incident occurred on 27th January 2025, at about 1:00 A.M., prompting a swift response from police operatives.
Adeh said the preliminary investigations revealed that seven unidentified men, disguised as vigilante members and armed with machetes and sticks, targeted the victim’s residence.
She added that they deceived the victim into opening his gate and subsequently abducted him along with three members of his family noting that, a neighbor who attempted to intervene during the attack sustained injuries and was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.
The statement stressed that the FCT Police Command has launched an extensive search and rescue operation to ensure the safe recovery of the victims and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
It therefore enjoined Residents of Chikakore and the general public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with the authorities.
