Group Calls For Passage of Pending Constitutional Review Bills

A group, on the platform of JESZ Development Foundation, in partnership with youth across the seven north west states, have expressed concerns over the prolonged delay in passing pending constitutional review bills by the National Assembly.

The group said the 10th National Assembly began working on amending the 1999 Constitution in February 2024 and, two years after, the National Assembly is yet to vote to pass pending constitutional review bills, so that they can be transmitted to
the 36 State Houses of Assembly for concurrence.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna, Zigwai Ayuba, Executive Director, JESZ Development Foundation, said the north west youth are most concerned about the passage of constitutional review bills that
would strengthen the electoral process and other important sectors of national development, such as security, policing, local government reforms, judicial reforms, legislative reforms, and fiscal reforms.
