The Federal Government has shown commitment to promotion of public health on construction sites.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, at a meeting with China Harbour Engineering Company, CHEC, in Abuja, cautioned the company on safeguarding public health in handling the Mararaba-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi dual carriageway.

The Minister disclosed that the Ministry received a petition over the ongoing Makurdi-9th Nile-Enugu Road project, on excessive dust from construction site which has continued to pose environmental and health risks to residents of the nearby communities.

Umahi emphasised the need for improved highway safety management. He directed the contractor to strengthen corridor monitoring and ensure prompt removal of stationary vehicles to prevent obstruction and accidents on the Highways.
