EndSARS: Anambra Panel Receives over 126 Petitions
The Judicial Panel of enquiry looking into police brutality, extrajudicial killings and other related matters have indicated plans to request for time extension as a result of the number of petitions received so far.
The chairman of the 32- man panel Justice Veronica Umeh made this known while speaking with newsmen in Awka, the Anambra state capital.
Justice Veronica said out of the 126 petitions submitted, more than 20 have been heard with two struck out for various reasons including the petition being outside the terms of reference of the panel.
Speaking at the hearing, one of the petitioners who linked the loss of his business premises to the disbanded Special Anti-robbery Squad called on the state government to tender an apology to him and also compensate him for wrongfully demolishing his property.
