Coalition of Northern Groups Decries Boko Haram Renewed Hostilities

The Coalition of Northern Groups has decried the renewed hostilities by Boko Haram terrorists in North East Nigeria. The Coalition cautioned against reliance on foreign troops, stressing the need for strategies anchored on national interest, accountability, and transparency.

On the deadly bomb blasts in Maiduguri, CNG warned that Nigeria must not slide back into an era of terrorism, fear, and mass killings.

The explosions reportedly occurred at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, as well as at the Monday Market and Post Office areas, disrupting what has been described as a fragile peace gradually being restored after years of insurgency in the North East.

The group described the attacks as heinous, senseless, and a dangerous signal that terrorist elements may be attempting to regain a foothold in the region.

The Coalition extended condolences to the families of victims, as well as the government and people of Borno State, while also praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.

The coalition called for urgent and decisive action from the Federal Government, the Borno State Government, and security agencies, urging them to move beyond routine responses and confront the renewed threat effectively.

The coalition further called for intensified efforts to identify and prosecute sponsors and financiers of terrorism, insisting that those responsible must be brought to justice.

It stressed the importance of strong leadership and urged the President to take direct charge of the situation.

The coalition also called for the adoption of modern technology and new strategies to decisively tackle the resurgence of terror, warning against any form of complacency.
