Benue, EU, Commission Water Plant At NAKA IDP
Benue State Government, in collaboration with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, on Thursday, commissioned a new water plant constructed by the European Union, EU, for Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in communities in Naka town, Gwer West Local Government Area.
The European Union, EU, in partnership with International Organization for Migration, IOM, constructed the water plant with capacity to produce 500,000 litres of water per day, in order to address the water needs of the people.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, represented by Deputy Governor Sam Ode, in company of the Humanitarian Affairs Minister, commissioned the water plant, built by ECHO, a humanitarian arm of European Union, in partnership with International Organization for Migration.
The delegation also observed the formal handing over of 600 newly constructed shelters at a new IDP camp, funded by ECHO, while its target is 960 housing units, others undergoing construction.
Members of the delegation also visited the IDP camps where they had interactive session with the displaced persons in the camp in Naka town.
