Bayelsa Governor Extends Lockdown

Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has said that the state would comply with the directives of the president in ensuring that inter-state lock-down is enforced by security personnel within the state borders and waterways.

The Governor made the disclosure during a meeting with the COVID-19 task-force committee at the government house in Yenagoa.

Addressing committee members and newsmen, Governor Diri spoke on the twenty-four-hour lock-down directive and the partial intra-state lock-down.

He advised Bayelsans against provoking security officials in the discharge of their duties as the committee chairman and Chief Medical Director of the Niger Delta University Teaching hospital spoke on the present state of hospitals and positive cases.

Five patients from the same family who tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic are still the only cases recorded in the state and are presently receiving treatment at the University Teaching Hospital in Yenagoa.
