ASUU gives FG condition

ASUU gives FG condition
The stakeholders meeting called by the Minister of Labour and Employment,Chris Ngige to possibly resolve issues that necessitated an indefinite strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has ended in deadlock.

ASUU's executive members who attended the meeting were not favourably disposed to positions placed on the table by government officials.

At the meeting,Ngige also appeared to be very displeased with ASUU for embarking on the indefinite strike without giving adequate notice.

But Ogunyemi quickly placed the records straight insisting that several letters had been written to the government detailing their grievances without positive responses
.
ASUU president while responding to the minister's comment said the substantial issues are not for the press, but said the allegation that ASUU kept the relevant ministries, departments and agencies in the dark before proceeding on this action is unfounded.

Both of them said the two bodies will meet again for more dialogue.

On whether the strike will be called off before then, Ogunyemi said " ASUU members called for the strike meaning that the leadership of the union has no right to call it off.''
