The General Officer commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdussalam and his 82 division counterpart Major General Hassan Dada, on Thursday led a joint operation in an operational visit to illegal oil bunkering sites located at Oyingbo local government area of Rivers state.

The Nigerian Army in a statement by the acting deputy director of 6 Division Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma made available to our correspondent, said the visit was essential to have an on the spot assessment of the illegality perpetrated by criminals and economic saboteurs.

According to the Army acting deputy director, the GOC also sees the visit as a morale booster for officers and men of the Nigerian Army, which also took them to forest's in Imo river.

The GOC was said to have charged his officers to ensure all illegal bunkering sites are destroyed, while re-echoing president Bola Tinubu,s zero tolerance for illegal oil bunkering and other criminality in the Niger Delta region.

Items at the illegal bunkering sites includes tanks and pipes used for illegal refining of products, drums and hoses, as well as the burning of products and equipment used by the oil thieves.
