Ag IGP Promises To Lead Police With Integrity, Accountability, Professionalism

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has promised to lead the Nigeria Police Force with integrity, accountability and modern professionalism. He assured to prioritise the welfare of officers and strengthen public trust across the country.

At the handover ceremony, Disu expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him. He acknowledged that his appointment was a call to duty rather than celebration.

He expressed awareness of the high expectations placed on his leadership and pledged to build on the foundations laid by his predecessors, particularly, the outgoing Inspector General.

The Acting IGP assured officers and men of the Force that his leadership would be visible, fair and supportive, promising to fight for improved working conditions, dignity and operational capacity while demanding professionalism, courage and compassion in service to Nigerians.

The outgoing Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, thanked the President for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as a constitutional trust to safeguard internal security.

He highlighted key reforms implemented under his leadership, including intelligence-led policing, improved forensic and digital crime-tracking systems, enhanced inter-agency collaboration and strengthened internal accountability mechanisms.

There was the symbolic transfer of leadership baton from the 22nd Inspector General to the 23rd Acting Inspector General of Police, marking the official leadership transition in the Nigeria Police Force.
