250 Ogun Vulnerable Rural Women Get Grants Amidst Hardship

No fewer than 250 vulnerable rural women in Ogun State have benefitted from the N120 Million grants dolled out by a group, SOS Children's Village in Nigeria as part of the intervention to scale up their income generating ventures towards cushioning the effect of the current economic challenges in the country.

The beneficiaries, drawn from across five communities of Ogun East Local Government Area consisted of member of different 12 Village Savings and Loan Associations.

Speaking with journalists after the symbolic presentation of cheques to beneficiaries, National Director of the SOS Children's Village, Eghosa Ehosa said the principal focus of the intervention was to foster economic self-dependence on each of the beneficiaries.

Ehosa, represented by the Group's Chief Programme Officer, Ayodeji Adelopo explained that the seed funding is part of the family strengthening support system policy of SOS Children's Village Nigeria.

Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Adejumoke Adewole said the intervention aligned with the state government's initiative on women empowerment.
